Applications open for Professional Mentorship Program!

The Professional Mentorship Program aims to match people working in the library and information management field with Dalhousie MLIS students (both incoming & returning students).

We believe that providing students with this valuable mentorship opportunity will:

  • strengthen their understanding of the field
  • provide insight on career development, and
  • help participants develop strong professional connections

Mentors will have the opportunity to:

  • provide guidance to emerging leaders
  • meet new colleagues, and
  • discuss the latest trends in library and information management

We are accepting applications for professionals and students until October 9th. Those application forms are available on the Professional Mentorship Program page and can be sent to

Applications open for the Professional Mentorship Program!

Awesome piece of news:

Applications for both professionals and students are now open for the Professional Mentorship Program!

We’re extremely excited to get the ball rolling on this one. It’s the tenth year of this program at the CLA Dalhousie Student Chapter, and we’re determined to make it the best! Each year, professionals from the information management and library services fields are paired with students from Dalhousie’s School of Information Management and connect with each other in a mentoring relationship. The great thing about it is that once you’ve been matched, you can determine what you want to do with the partnership (a tour of the workplace, a chat over coffee, a resume review session, etc.). It’s flexible, it’s fun, and it’s a fantastic way to network with some amazing people.

Completed applications for students will be due on Monday, October 1st and will be accepted via e-mail at or through the CLA mailbox in the SIM Common Room.

Completed applications for professionals will be due on Friday, October 5th and will be accepted via e-mail at or fax at (902) 494-2451.
